The laptop has a dedicated GPU but the game runs poorly

Check the game runs on the dedicated GPU, not the integrated one. The charger should be in the wall, not battery only, and the vendor app should be in performance mode, not quiet.

On an Optimus laptop, do not disable the integrated GPU in the BIOS. Intake vents and a stand matter: dust looks the same as a “weak optimization”.
